Tim: Victoria

Gentlemen!

Week 9 is upon us and boy do I have a fun one for you!!! On my way home from VA over Xmas, I was at the airport and delayed (airports…), so I decided to download a film and watch it while I waited for my next flight…I went to iTunes to the “critics choice” section to find something stimulating and possibly more rewarding than watching MAD MAX again  I searched through the titles and one caught my eye: Victoria“. The poster was striking, an extreme close up of a beautiful woman’s face. I saw it was a German film and had great reviews. I’m not kidding, ‘Mac Mondays’ made me stop to watch it! I thought, I never would have watched MERU or FORCE MAJEURE or CHEFSTABLE or GGN without Mac Mon’s so I said- Fuck it…I’m going to pick this one…
Genre? Drama/Thriller—Already Im excited.
BRIEF Synopsis: A young Spanish girl meets some local Berliners at a nightclub. What starts as a fun night out with an attractive guy and his friends turns into something much…much different.—Holy shit, yes please!
Tagline? “One girl. One city. One night. One take.” (!!!!!!) —One take? Like ‘Birdman’ one take? Yes…YES. ACTUALLY ONE FUCKING TAKE.

I was speechless by the end of the film and I’ve been running around LA like Paul Revere telling everyone to watch it. It was one of my favorite films of the year hands down. Bonus: its a Spanish girl talking to German guys, so it’s mostly in English! I BEG YOU: DO NOT watch a trailer if you haven’t seen one already. DO NOT read any reviews until after you watch the film! Go in blind like i did. It is worth it. Cannot WAIT for you all to watch it and discuss.
